Our Next pastor
Horizon Baptist Fellowship (CBF) in Summerville, GA, is actively seeking a visionary pastor to guide us and walk along beside us in our mission to be a church where faith is lived out through worshiping Christ, forming together as disciples, and engaging our community, both locally and globally.
Established in 1992, Horizon has been a thriving congregation. We currently have a membership of 90. Our worship opportunities include Sunday School at 9:45, a traditional Sunday morning service at 11:00, with an average attendance of 45, and Wednesday night Bible study and fellowship.
After navigating through recent difficult times, made even worse by the Covid-19 pandemic, HBF has emerged with a renewed sense of purpose, and a reaffirmed commitment to be the light God calls us to be.
Our desire is that our next pastor possesses leadership abilities, spiritual gifts, and personal traits in the areas identified below:
LEADERSHIP
Will have a sense of direction of their ministry and is skilled in planning & leading programs
Will have experience and progressive ideas for working with children and youth
Will be involved with church committees and will gain knowledge of their function
Will be able to manage time well
WORSHIP
Will be an effective preacher/speaker/teacher
Understands our desire to maintain a sense of unity and harmony among the congregation
PASTORAL CARE
Will understand the importance of making pastoral calls on members and follow up calls with visitors
Will work regularly at bringing in new members
Is accepting of people with divergent backgrounds & traditions
PERSONAL
Will have a seminary degree or equivalent theological degree
Will have 4+ years experience in pastoral ministry
Will be dedicated to his or her own family
Candidate will possess word processing skills and experience.
